The Dinner the night before - Cosy Club

If you went on this site earlier, you may haev noticed that I've changed the location for the dinner the night before. Dishoom, although lovely, is too rigid as a sit down meal and the social casual aspect of it won't work as well. I would still recommend for you to go try it out as it's a great place to eat. Cosy Club does allow for a more casual setting, no set time to turn up or leave, no need to order from a menu and sit around and wait for it to arrive. The place is described as a "quirky, “cosy but grand” setting with 1970s/vintage décor." Interesting. This is just a casual get together, stay as long as you like, but at least until you've finished eating!

The Ceremony

As far as churches go, this is not the most beautiful of churches, but it's the church I grew up at. I served as an altar boy here right up until I left for university, so it does hold some sentimental value to me. Zero for Neza. At the time of writing, I'm hoping my cousin will be officiating. In that case, I imagine the ceremony woudl be partly in Vietnamese also. The ceremony itself should take about an hour and follows the usual format of a Catholic church wedding. There is no real dress code, whatever is comfortable for you. I would recommend at minimum smart casual if you want to push for an answer from me. The church is rather large so sit near the front and even yourselves out between the two sides of the pews!

The Apero

After the wedding, there will probably a rush to take pictures at the altar. With myself, with Neza, with my parents, with my extended family...it's an asian thing. Feel free to stick around to join in any of the photos, or have one, two, several photos of just yourselves in the church setting.

Neza and I are not big party goers. We don't drink alcohol, nor do we now have the youthful stamina that allowed us to enjoy discos that go deep into the night. So we're not really having a big sit down dinner with an afterparty that is commonly perceived as a traditional reception. The church has a function room upstairs at the back of the church and instead we will be hosting an apero for you to hang around, have a drink, take in a few nibbles. Current cuisine of choice is Fish and Chips.

In terms of "entertainment", you, my friends, are the entertainment. We'll have an area for the younger guests (if you have any suggestions or hints about what would keep them entertained, let me know!), and what I do plan to have is an area set up as a portrait studio station where you can have your photo taken by a professional photographer and printed there and then. You can have it taken with your family, with your friends, or if you want a new LinkedIn headshot, you can have that done there too.
